A 4 – 2 away win for the Women’s 3s against Wootton 3s with a good mix of young and seasoned players.
MK started well and Summer O’Kane opened the scoring after just eight minutes with a straight strike from a penalty corner. Wootton levelled before half-time following a bit of confusion at the back.
MK were the stronger team in the second half with great pressure and passing between players, and the defence was strong when Wootton tried to break. Susan Watkins and Alexa O’Kane scored from open play before Wootton pulled one back from a penalty corner. Summer scored again in the last minute of the game with an incredible individual goal. Having won the ball at the top of D, she side-stepped two defenders before taking a reverse stick strike into the top corner of the goal. Summer was a well-deserved MOM with sister Alexa also picking up votes as well as Izzy Gurney and Harriet Mitchell who had her first senior hockey win with MK. Overall a great team performance.
