Following their promotion to Regional Division 1 last year, Milton Keynes M2s kicked off their campaign entertaining Maidenhead at WOTG.

The first half was a close fought affair, with MK living with their opponents from the off and causing plenty of problems going forward. Maidenhead took the lead mid-way through the first half showing the clinical finishing that MK will require in this league. Maidenhead went 2 up near the end of the end of the first half, despite Kingy’s best efforts by deflecting the drag flick onto the bar, only to see the on rushing forwards bundle the ball in.

MK came flying out the traps at the start of the second half, winning a short corner, with Toby King tucking away a “text-book” routine at the far post. Unfortunately from the restart MK were caught napping and Maidenhead and went straight up the other end to make 3-1. Undeterred MK carried on applying pressure, with Russell Brazier rifling home a much more conventional short corner routine.

Maidenhead got their 4th before MKs best move of the match resulted in a diving Grant Webster deflecting the ball to Dave Breuilly who tucked it past the keeper first time in the final two minutes of the game.

Overall plenty of positives for MK to take heart from for the rest of the season.

MoM – Dan
DoD – Sibo for only lasting 5 minutes before injuring himself (we’re still not sure how!)
