MKHC Mens 2's returned from the international break to head down to Reading - currently second in the second in the league - after coming off a 7-0 win against Oxford Uni 2 weeks prior.
The boys were in for a tall order, only travelling with 12 men but it was opportunity show the league what they were about and continue the momentum already built.
MK started well with slick passing and off ball movement, with Reading starting equally as well with hard and intense runs and creating some strong chances. The visitors drew first blood through Toby King, willing the ball into the back of the net while he toppled over the keeper. Reading only took a matter of minutes to provide a reply, levelling the score. It stayed a tight game throughout the full 70, with goals from Reece Armstrong and another from Toby - but Reading always answered back.
Following a huge strike from Taurean Phillips to put MK 4-3 up late in the game, victory seemed imminent. The boys had left everything on the pitch and were so close to beating Reading on their own turf. However, after some unfortunate mistraps and tired legs, Reading managed to mount one final counter attack and manufacture a 3v1, eventually leading to a goal. MK did win a short corner as the umpires blew for full time, but to no avail.
Onwards to Witney.
