MK stay top after draw at Sonning

The men’s 2s saw their lead at the top of the table cut to two points after a hard fought draw away at Sonning.

MK had shipped four goals inside the opening 20 minutes in the home fixture and were keen not to do the same again.

So it didn’t look good when Sonning opened the scoring inside 30 seconds of pushback.

But MK stayed strong and stood firm against a well drilled Sonning side.

Chances were few and far between in the opening 20 minutes for MK, with Lewis Jobbling spurning the most clear cut opportunity, firing the ball straight at the keeper from the top of the D.

The visitors began to apply some pressure as the half wore on, with multiple short corners won. Sadly none of them came to anything.
After the half time break, MK looked a little more settled than they had for most of the first half.

This level of calm allowed them to get back into the game, with striker and captain Dave Breuilly getting on the end of a Jack Luther cross.
This seemed to spur Sonning on and they started to exert real pressure on the MK goal, with multiple short corners.

Thankfully for the visitors their defence was made of the right stuff and they rebuffed all advances on their goal, including a superb goal line clearance from Gavin Dowland.

When the final whistle blew, MK were the happier of the two sides after having ride their luck at times.
