Saturday 15th February MKHC Ladies 2's vs Windsor Ladies 1's

After a week off, the MK ladies 2’s found themselves braving it through Storm Dennis in a top of the table clash at home against Windsor Ladies 1s. MK were on the back foot from the start and found it very difficult to keep Windsor at bay who capitalised on the constant amount of pressure they put by getting the ball over the line in the first 15mins. The rest of the first half called for some excellent defending and goalkeeping by MK who struggled to get the ball into their attacking half, but their continued persistence kept them in the game.

A motivational, “dig-deep”, half-time team talk by captains Steph Bates & Lisa Kavanagh saw MK come out guns blazing at the start of the 2nd half, who managed to find their passing and possession game. The “never giving up” attitude and “playing to the whistle” proved vital and was the difference between the 2 teams. Annie Howard showed great composure by beautifully striking the ball into the goal from a short corner, levelling the score at 1-1. MK continued to show strength in their midfield and defence with every single player on the pitch giving 100%. With 5mins to go, another short-corner won, it was Marion Yates this time who “kept calm and carried on” by simply threading the ball into the gap taking MK into the lead and claiming all 3 points. A hard fought, well-deserved win.

The fight for promotion is now all in their hands with 2 games in hand and 4 points behind Windsor. Let’s all get behind the MK ladies for this last 3rd of the season to help them finish strong
