MK 3s Grind Out Win Over Wycombe

MK 3s bounced from last week's embarrassment at Leighton Buzzard to stun third-placed Wycombe 2s at home. The game started off evenly for the first ten minutes up until MK won their first short corner. Though the push out didn't quite go as planned, Jonny Wyatt reacted smartly to pick it up and slot the ball to Will Luther who put it past the keeper. The lead didn't last too long, however, as one of the game's few defensive lapses saw an unmarked Wycombe player given time to put it in MK's goal. MK did not let the setback phase them and the first half remained even until David Breuilly used his pace to get a one-on-one with the Wycombe keeper, who he calmly beat before slotting it into the empty goal. MK did end the first half down to ten after Tom Holloway made a great connection after being fouled. Unfortunately, the thing he'd chosen to hit was the opposition player's dropped stick rather than the ball.

MK's return to eleven didn't last very long as David Breuilly was unfortunate to get a green card after not hearing the umpire's whistle, but the side kept Wycombe from creating anything during that time. An invigorated Wycombe certainly had the most of the ball second half, although MK did get a couple of chances to break that were snuffed out. However, MK continued to hold firm against the pressure, with keeper Jason Evans solidly dealing with any balls and short corner chances that did manage to get through. Despite having the ball in Wycbome's 25 in the last minute, there was still time for final panic as MK failed to run out the clock and allowed Wycombe to get a break. However, man of the match Jason Evans was once again on hand to save the full three points with an excellent diving stop and leave MK with a very welcome boost in confidence.
