Milton Keynes M3s 2-1 Oxford Hawks M4s

Milton Keynes Mens 3s produced some of their best hockey of the season to knock off a tough Oxford Hawks side that sit above them in the table. After successfully stopped a couple of early Hawks short corners, MK earned one of their own with a somewhat improvised routine ending up with Alex Fuller finding Sam Bushell at the back post to slot it in. The first half then fell into a bit of a routine, with Oxford Hawks sending players forward but with MK always looking dangerous on the break. MK perhaps should have been further ahead, but wasted a few good chances. Hawks piled on the pressure at the end of the first half, but the defence marshalled by David Stone and Jason Wilkes held resolute and keep MK with a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The second half was much the same as the first with MK always looking dangerous on the break. One such break led to the lead being doubled as David McMillan finished off a fine team move. The defense again held firm for most of it, keeper Jason Evans with some fine saves when called upon throughout the game. Unfortunately, MK couldn't quite hang on the clean sheet as Oxford Hawks eventually managed to sneak it in, but after a couple of slightly nervous final minutes, MK came away with a well-earned victory.
