MK mens 3s put on an excellent second half performance to come back from behind and take a highly valued away win against Eastcote at Brunel University.
The first half was fairly close, however, some loss of focus and poor decision making from MK meant Eastcote just about edged things. Some early ill discipline resulted in a succession of short corners for Eastcote and they eventually managed to blast one past goalkeeper Duncan Pickering, who had managed to keep previous efforts out with some nice saves. The lack of discipline continued a short while later when Ben Spencer managed to collect a green card following a short corner awarded to MK. MK had a few half-chances to score, getting the ball into the Eastcote D, but were lacking in a bit of composure in the 25.
After a refocusing half-time team-talk, MK came out much stronger in the second half, playing perhaps their best hockey of the season so far. A few chances went begging before Jack Luther played the ball across the D for Will Luther to do a traditional tap in from the back post. MK then took the lead after Dave McMillan deflected in a Lewis Jobbling flick from a short corner, the goal celebrations ending up in a green card for Jack Luther, though Jack claims it was a case of mistaken identity with his brother. The cards didn't all go to MK, however, with a yellow card for back-chatting put Eastcote down to ten for a time. Will grabbed his second shortly after, this time arriving first to the near post to a ball played into the D and deflecting it over the keeper. He failed to grab a hat-trick though, not helping himself by missing the open goal with a hit after rounding the keeper. All in all, a very pleasing second half and a very important away victory.
