After a tricky away trip the week before, MK were grateful to be returning to the welcoming surroundings of Fortress Woughton, and were pleased to welcome Trojans from the south coast.
The game itself started quickly, with Trojans taking an early lead before MK pegged them back through a Liam Foster goal.
A quick break after an elaborate MK short saw Trojans take the lead again, but only before a Joe Skinner shot-cross hit Vaughan Watson’s stick to fly into the Trojan’s net to draw level.
With half time looming, a more conventional MK short led to some unconventional Trojans defending, which then allowed Vincent Pretorius to poke the ball over the line.
Half time score – 3-2 MK.
Much like the first half, the second started quickly with MK’s earlier goal scorer Liam Foster a little overenthusiastic with an early post-half-time-haribo-sugar-rush-tackle landing him back in the dugout for another rest.
A goal from Trojans then brought the game back level, but with MK knowing that their 100% home record was in danger, MK pressed on and won a short corner. With the initial flick saved, who else would the ball fall to but Liam Foster, ready for his moment of redemption, to slot in his second of the game.
4-3 MK.
However, the excitement wasn’t over for the fans responsibly packed into the ground though, as a slip by an unidentified MK defender allowed Trojans a run clear through on goal. Alex White in the MK goal saw the danger ahead though, and calmly ushered the attacker way from danger with no further incident worthy of comment.
The final whistle went, John Smiths was sprayed, and Milton Keynes keep marching on.
Fortress Woughton indeed.
