Today the Samurai came up against an Amersham and Chalfont team who have had everything their own way so far this season, having played 4 and won 4, with a goal difference of +19.
The Samurai switched their usual formation and set themselves up to be difficult to score against, in the hope of sneaking a goal on a counter-attack. It proved to be an inspired move, as five minutes into the game, in the first time MK got out of their own half, Mark chased down what seemed to be a lost cause and won a short corner. A powerful shot from the set play from Jonny saw the Samurai take a 1-0 lead very much against the run of play. From here on in, it was a backs against the wall performance as the Sams prevented Amersham from converting their possession dominance into an equaliser.
The full time whistle went and the Samurai were unable to contain their delight at a deserved yet unexpected victory. 7 points in the last three games bodes well for the rest of the season and we hope to build from here and continue our rise up the table.
