MK's suggestion that only second-half goals should count was sadly rejected.

Though they earned their first week of the season the week before against South Berkshire, a poor first half away to a strong Thame 1s side eliminated hopes of the 3s turning out a second win in a row. However, a much improved second half provided hope for much improved performances and results going forwards. A mixture of wasteful possession and lax defending allowed Thame to rush out to a five-goal lead, and it could've been more without some impressive saves from Dylan Watson. It is worth noting that skipper Will Luther received a green card for some exuberant efforts in creating space occupied by a defender, a decision didn't particularly agree with, because it might comes up again later in the match.

Despite the scoreline, coach Mike instilled some tactical adjustments and some belief in the team, and the change in the second half was remarkable. Stallwart defending prevented Thame from adding further to their lead, and MK grabbed a goal back on the break through Matt Darvell. Defensive efforts were made a bit tougher when the skipper offered some further disagreements with umpiring decisions, deservedly earning himself the first offical Pink Bib of the season in addition to the yellow card, but the side held resolute. MK grabbed a second goal at the death as Nick Lygo-Baker put away a short corner rebound to make the second-half score 2-0 to MK, but unfortunately first half goals do count.
