After a poor game last week, MK Samurai got back to winning ways this week with a convincing 5-2 win over Staines. It took a while for the Samurai to get going, and Staines had the early pressure and failed to convert a couple of short corners. MK's opening goal came against the run of play when a fast counterattack led to Luis scoring the opening goal of the game. Staines responded strongly, but after squandering a couple more short corners, the Samurai gave themselves breathing space with a second goal. In the ascendency now, this was followed up quickly by a third goal, this time from Oli on his senior debut. Half time came with MK comfortable but not complacent at 3-0 up.
The second half started evenly, but it was Staines who opened the scoring after about ten minutes to pull one back. However, MK did not panic and scored a 4th from a short corner not long after, with Jonny then rounding off the scoring with a fifth a few minutes later. The one disappointment of the game came when Staines pulled a further one back with a soft goal when the Samurai failed to deal with a quickly taken free hit just outside the D.
All in all, however, a very strong performance from the Samurai, which allows us to overtake Staines in the table.
