The first league game of the 2016-17 season saw the MK ladies 3's on the road to face South Berks 3's. MK knew they were in for a battle when the opposition went ahead about 10 minutes into the game and shortly followed up with second. MK had chances on the South Berks goal including a string of short corners but despite the best attempts of Emma Kynaston, Jo Readman, Dwani Patel and Sam Gorman the ball didn't quite cross the line. Half time came with MK 3-0 down.
The second half saw MK starting strongly and Sam Gorman scored a fine goal for MK from a short corner straight strike. This seemed to energise the 3s who had a long period of play in control of the ball. Georgia Marshall managed to poke home a second goal but MK were soon deflated when South Berks added a fourth. MK kept going to the end never giving up the battle. Although the final score was a 4-2 loss for MK they demonstrated some fine hockey skills which shows plenty of promise for the season ahead.
