Milton Keynes Ladies 3s were determined to get some points in their home game against Abingdon 2's. The game started with the ball quickly moving from end to end. Abingdon found the back of the net early on but the goal was not given as it was too high for the first shot from their short. This was the kick that the 3s needed to show more grit and grunt and passion to get to the ball. They were rewarded for this effort when Francesca Head calmly hit a beautiful ball into the goal from a short corner to put MK ahead. Despite great possession on the right side of the pitch between Siobhan Kavanagh and Megan Venturi the ball never quite managed to penetrate the circle.
The defence of Carey Maitland-Lauderdale, Emma Hooton, Laura Rundle, Megan Ellis and Laura Dudley worked tirelessly in the match putting in tackle after tackle and defending numerous short corners. They were deflated when a penalty flick was awarded against them and duly scored by Abingdon. This set up the rest of the match to be a major battle with MK defending their point. The defence held out supported by the mid field man marking to earn MK a point. Man of the match Laura Dudley.
