MK 3s get off the mark

Despite captain's Will curious attempt to start a fight with the league's result reporting robot, Milton Keynes 3s got off the mark in the league season as they beat Oxford Hawks 3-1 at Fortress Woughton.

Rather than take the advantage of the blinding clouds, MK elected to start with the ball, with instructions to go out hard and try and grab an early goal, with the side getting the rare luxury of having both Coach Doug and Coach Mike focusing solely on offering vital words of encouragement. However, MK decided that discretion was the better of valour and patiently waited almost an entire half-a-minute before grabbing an early goal as work down the right resulted in Dean Stonebridge slotting the ball home. A goal lead quickly become two and once more good play resulted in Mr. Stonebridge grabbing his second. A superb half went even better as Reece Armstrong somehow managed to bundle another attack in at the back post, an ensure that the all-important top-scorer contest would enter a four-way tie. Oxford Hawks rarely troubled the MK defence in a first half performance that was easily to best provided by the team so far.

Oxford Hawks came out stronger in the second half, putting the MK defence under a bit more pressure, though MK kept the upper hand throughout the second half. MK did have multiple chances to both extend their league and really should have be able to enjoy a jug of tasty beverage courtesy of Mr. Stonebridge, but the chances were not converted. Unfortunately, MK were not able to hold onto a clean sheet as one of Hawks' attacks managed to bounce through into the D to a forward who slotted past the advancing keeper. Nonetheless, MK remained in control of the game and picked up a thoroughly-deserved three points. Easily the best perofrmance of the season so far, with a good structure shown by the side, successfully embedded in the side through some good work at training (*cough cough*).
