Milton Keynes 3XI suffered their first defeat in three games as they went down 6-2 to Marlow 3 rd XI.
After two successive victories for MK 3rdXI there was a feeling of confidence amongst the team that they could overturn Marlow, who had a similar record so far this season. Unfortunately a lacklustre display now leaves the side with a record that shows more losses than wins.
Despite an early surge from Marlow, and a number of short corners, it was Milton Keynes who drew first blood through a driving run down the right from Dave Mac to provide an opportunity for David Breuilly to strike home. There followed period of easy turnover, lack of intensity and defensive errors that meant the MK went into the halftime break 3-1 down.
A rousing halftime talk and a beautifully worked goal suggested that a spirited comeback was on the cards. After that all the discussion at half time was forgotten and two more soft goals were conceded. Marlow had time to score a spectacular sixth goal and the few skirmishes Milton Keynes had on the Marlow goal showed the spirit and determination of the side but little else. Defender and man of the match Josh Oakley came out of the game in credit but few others did.
