Frazer scored!

On a murky December day MK travelled down to in-form Spencer for the final match before Christmas. The side arrived full of Christmas cheer, but a bit short on numbers due to festive related absentees – I will not sully this match report with their names!

The game commenced will MK looking to extend their recent good form and started playing some nice stuff with the wind behind their backs. Alas, this was not to last long as Spencer won a corner and they converted by unfortunately bisecting Nick Gage’s legs… This lead was to not to last for long though, and we were about to witness our first Xmas miracle of the day! Milton Keynes after some quick thinking from Captain, Talisman and general top chap Nick Anderson released Frazer McColl to go through and win a short corner. Having assessed their options, MK decided that it was best to release their secret penalty corner weapon. Up stepped Ali McColl who fired a bullet drag flick straight into the middle of the goal, the opposition goalkeeper stepping out of the way, so fierce was its pace! Following this MK played out the rest of the half with Andy Pettefer, Charlie Page, James Evans and Tom Murtagh moving the ball around with great panache.

After some words at half time from our very own Father Christmas, CoachDad, MK returned to the with the intention of kicking on.

Immediately after half time MK appeared to go to sleep, evidently concerned about the evening’s festivities that were to follow. Spencer scored twice from a PC and PS despite Jamie Dodd’s best efforts, which was less than ideal. Following this we had a second and even greater Xmas miracle. After some quality approach play Nick Anderson fired a ball into the D and Frazer McColl popped up to score his first goal of the season with a neat deflection – It is a pleasure for this author to be able to say he did more than ‘work hard’! Following this Spencer had the temerity to score again – 4-2. Then again, after some good approach play by Charlie Page, Milton Keynes scored again. This time a ball into the D was attempted to be finished by Danny Newcombe and Man of the Match Frazer McColl, but was finally put away by Mikey Goalson for his 9th of the season. Following this Spencer scored again, which was awfully frustrating… Ian Cooper then came up with the pass of the match as he fired a ball across his baseline through an onrushing forwards legs – this author has had less nervy moments! Finally to everyone’s dismay Spencer scored again bringing the final score to 6-3.

Despite this result Milton Keynes enter the Xmas break in the strongest position they have ever been in and will look to kick on after the break. The squad can be proud of their achievements, but there is still plenty of room for improvement!

MoM – Frazer McColl for finally scoring
Dod – Nick Anderson for something about no balls…
